It’s been said “It takes a village to raise a child,” unfortunately, a large amount of kinship caregivers find themselves facing the endless challenges of caring for a relative child a very lonely experience. Not to mention how the demanding undertaking could bend and twist you and at times even knock you to the ground.

Even so, when you look into the face of the child you love, you will be reminded that due to your efforts he or she is now safe and happy, and is even thriving in your care. Such a reminder will not only give you the strength to get back up and navigate through your sudden, life changing circumstance, but will also remind you of its importance.

I’m writing this blog to share my vast and ever-changing experiences as a kinship caregiver.

I’m not an attorney or a licensed counselor – I’m simply an aunt caring for her nephew.
